✍️ Discoveries in Writing and Grammar

Help your child discover the joy of writing while building confidence and foundational skills! This interactive small-group class for Grades 3–5 is designed for beginning IEW students and combines the Discoveries in Writing curriculum with grammar instruction from Fix It! Grammar: The Nose Tree. Using IEW’s proven Structure and Style® method, students will learn to write with clarity, structure, and creativity. Through fun source texts, sentence-building games, and guided practice, students will begin their journey as capable, confident writers.

 

📝 What You’ll Learn:

  • IEW writing structure and stylistic techniques

  • Key Word Outlines and basic paragraph organization

  • Grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary in context

  • Sentence-building, editing, and revising

  • The full writing process: from idea to final draft

  • Tools to develop writing habits and confidence

  • Students in Grades 3–5

(Beginning IEW students or those with limited writing experience in early elementary grades)

🏛️ Ancient History Writing & Grammar – IEW Small Group Class

Help your child gain confidence in writing while exploring the adventures of the ancient world!
This interactive small-group class for Grades 5–7 combines the award-winning Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) curriculum with grammar instruction from Fix It! Grammar: Town Mouse and Country Mouse.

Students will learn to write structured, well-organized paragraphs and essays using IEW’s Structure and Style® method. Through engaging cultural literature and the study of famous places and historical events, students will build strong writing skills while developing a deeper appreciation for ancient civilizations.

📝 What You’ll Learn:

  • IEW writing structure and stylistic techniques

  • Key Word Outlines, paragraph development, and multi-paragraph essay organization

  • Grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary in context

  • Engaging historical content and guided discussion

  • The full writing process: rough drafts, editing, and polished final drafts

  • Introduction to MLA formatting for academic writing

U.S. History Writing & Grammar – IEW Small Group Class


Empower your middle school student to write with clarity and purpose—while diving into the major events and turning points in U.S. history!

This interactive small-group class for Grades 7–9 combines the advanced Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) U.S. History-Based Writing Lessons with grammar instruction from Fix It! Grammar: Robin Hood.

Students will strengthen academic writing skills through engaging historical source texts, structured writing assignments, and consistent grammar practice. This class is ideal for students with prior IEW experience or middle schoolers ready for a more mature writing challenge.

  • IEW writing structure and advanced stylistic techniques

  • Key Word Outlines, summaries, reports, and multi-paragraph essay composition

  • Grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary in context

  • Historical content covering key events, people, and movements in U.S. history

  • Full writing process: rough drafts, editing, MLA formatting, and final drafts

  • Strong focus on sentence variety, transitions, and clarity in academic writing
